In the fast-paced world of software as a service (SaaS), trust is everything. Dymtro Krasun wondered whether we even need a landing page if there's enough trust in the maker...

Of course, you don’t need a great landing page if people come from your Twitter account with a huge following where you share your learnings wins. They already trust that you can solve their problem.

But another story if they come from Google, then you need all these…
— Dmytro Krasun (@DmytroKrasun) April 19, 2024

But if you don't have an audience, you'll need to build trust through your marketing pages. Here's how...

1. Transparency is Key

 • Be honest about your product's capabilities and limitations. Your features pages should emphasise your strengths, of course, but don't over sell yourself.
 • Clearly communicate pricing, features, and any potential risks.
 • Share your story and journey as an indie maker to connect with your audience on a personal level. In the early days especially, people are buying into YOU. Your manifesto must dig into the "Why, why, why, why, why" you're the right person to build this product.

2. Prioritize Security and Privacy

 • Invest in robust security measures to protect user data. And tell people about it in the T&Cs.
 • Comply with industry standards and regulations (for example GDPR, CCPA).
 • Clearly outline your privacy policy and how you handle user information.

3. Provide Exceptional Customer Support

 • Offer prompt and helpful customer support to address any issues or concerns. Get a Crisp chat widget on your marketing pages.
 • Listen to feedback and continuously improve your product based on customer input. For example, Letterly lets users book a 30 minute call with the founders, right from the home screen.
 • Foster a sense of community where users can engage with each other and share experiences.

4. Offer Free Trials and Demonstrations

 • Allow users to experience your product firsthand with free trials or demos.
 • Showcase the value and benefits of your SaaS solution through real-life use cases.
 • Provide tutorials and resources to help users get the most out of your product.

5. Build Credibility Through Social Proof

 • Encourage satisfied customers to leave reviews and testimonials.
 • Highlight case studies and success stories that demonstrate the effectiveness of your product.
 • Leverage social media and online platforms to showcase your product's popularity and positive reception.

6. Maintain Reliability and Performance

 • Ensure your SaaS product is consistently reliable and performs well under various conditions.
 • Monitor and address any downtime or technical issues promptly.
 • Build a reputation for delivering quality and dependable service.

7. Cultivate Trust Over Time

 • Building trust takes time, so be patient and consistent in your efforts.
 • Stay true to your values and principles as an indie maker.
 • Foster long-term relationships with your audience based on trust and mutual respect.

In the competitive landscape of SaaS, trust is the currency that drives success. By prioritizing transparency, security, customer support, and credibility, indie makers can establish trust with their audience and pave the way for sustainable growth and success.
